How is Dayton for outdoor activities?

Curious what people think. I'm retired and You can expect to pay around $866 for rent here. Average temperature is around 55°F, so expect cold winters. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. It's changing fast — some good, some not so much. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. What are your go-to spots? Property taxes are high but you get good services. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

I've lived in Eastside for about 9 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. When I first moved here from Charlotte, I was surprised by nightlife. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- The cultural scene scene is pretty good

The downsides:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Limited high-paying job options

Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for singles. It's not for everyone but it works for us..
