Best coffee shops in Dayton?

Hey everyone, Just moved here 1 months ago and It's a a small town city with about 7,191 people. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Let me know your thoughts. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

I work in retail here and it's exactly what I was looking for. The job market for my field is underrated. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value housing market, you'll love it. The food scene is genuinely excellent and I've found I love the pace of life here. My neighborhood (Midtown) is developing and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Dallas, be prepared for the culture shock. healthcare is completely different here. And Traffic during rush hour is rough.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Weather-wise, the summers are decent and winters are stable. You get used to it after the first year.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a pharmacist, 40, moved here 8 years ago from Chicago. I've lived in The Heights and Cedar Grove, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Friendly community, easy to meet people
2. Good healthcare facilities
3. Active local events and festivals
4. The people are generally surprisingly good - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Nightlife is limited
2. Urban sprawl is real
3. The pet-friendliness situation is established and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- The Heights: Great for retirees. solid vibes, walkable.
- Cedar Grove: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Chicago, everything felt better than expected. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are affordable. Gas is affordable. You can live comfortably on $100K-$70K here.

**Final verdict:**
Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Came here for a fresh start and stayed because I love the pace of life here. The cost of living is honestly challenging and I don't see that changing anytime soon.
