Just moved to Daytona Beach, any tips?

Random thought, I'm a teacher here and Homes are going for about $244,300 on average. Poverty rate is 14.9%, which is around average. Crime rate is something to consider -Daytona Beach sits at 1,137.0 per 100K. The median home value here is around $244,300, which is actually reasonable. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Thoughts? There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The city has invested a lot in new development. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The weather takes some getting used to. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The suburbs are where most families end up. Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a nurse who relocated here from Boston about 14 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and my partner's job.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Strong sense of community

Cons that are real:
- Property taxes are high
- Homeless population growing downtown

Financially, we've found it decent compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are growing, gas is surprisingly good.

Socially, the quality of life is solid. Good luck with whatever you decide..
