Planning a move to Daytona Beach -neighborhoods?

Hi all, With a population of 75,924, Daytona Beach is a smaller city. Median household income is $50,130, which feels on the lower side for the area. Poverty rate is 14.9%, which is around average. Homes are going for about $244,300 on average. The city has invested a lot in new development. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The suburbs are where most families end up. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Does this match your experience? Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. I've lived in Eastside for about 12 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's not perfect but it works for me. When I first moved here from Boston, I was surprised by healthcare. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Affordable housing options
- The traffic scene is challenging

The downsides:
- Winters are long and cold
- Dating scene is rough

Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for retirees. No regrets on my end..

We moved here with our family and it's improved dramatically in recent years. Schools in Lakewood area are better than expected. Kids love it here.
