Rent vs buy in Daytona Beach -what makes sense?

Alright, I'm a 33-year-old nurse and Crime rate is something to consider -Daytona Beach sits at 1,137.0 per 100K. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Thoughts? It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

Public transit is solid here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.

The food scene here is better than expected. Tons of great Indian places. it exceeded my expectations.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a accountant who relocated here from Nashville about 14 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and a job opportunity.

Pros I've experienced:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Four distinct seasons
- Strong sense of community

Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Limited public transit options

Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are competitive, gas is excellent.

Socially, I have mixed feelings honestly. Happy to answer more specific questions..
