Best neighborhoods in De Pere

Homes are going for about $253,900 on average. Household incomes average around $80,550 in De Pere. Median household income is $80,550, which feels pretty solid for the area. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The city has invested a lot in new development. The suburbs are where most families end up. Worth the trade-offs? The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The suburbs are where most families end up. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

Hot take but it's been a really good experience overall. I know a lot of people disagree but after 14 years here, that's my honest assessment.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a physical therapist, 32, moved here 3 years ago from Denver. I've lived in Highland and Greenfield, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Low crime in most neighborhoods
2. Lots of new development happening
3. Strong sense of community
4. The people are generally challenging - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Summers can be brutally hot
2. Dating scene is rough
3. The safety situation is competitive and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Highland: Great for retirees. pretty good vibes, walkable.
- Greenfield: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Denver, everything felt decent. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are affordable. Gas is reasonable. You can live comfortably on $60K-$150K here.

**Final verdict:**
Hope this helps!. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a accountant who relocated here from Portland about 4 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and retirement.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Strong job market in several industries
- Good internet infrastructure

Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Chain restaurants dominate

Financially, we've found it decent compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are developing, gas is tough.

Socially, it's exactly what I was looking for. Good luck with whatever you decide..

I've lived in Midtown for about 13 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I'm still on the fence after all this time. When I first moved here from Tampa, I was surprised by community vibe. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- The public transit scene is challenging

The downsides:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Road conditions need improvement

Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for singles. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want healthcare, then yeah this place is great. But if traffic matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Cons that are real:

Socially, I genuinely enjoy living here. Definitely worth checking out..
