Is De Pere worth moving to in 2026?

I'm a remote worker and Median household income is $80,550, which feels pretty solid for the area. You can expect to pay around $981 for rent here. Average temperature is around 46--F, so expect cold winters. The median home value here is around $253,900, which seems about average. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The weather takes some getting used to. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The suburbs are where most families end up. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The city has invested a lot in new development. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The weather takes some getting used to. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The city has invested a lot in new development. The weather takes some getting used to. OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 15 years ago from Raleigh and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Fairview. It's hit or miss for what you get.

Jobs: The market is growing right now, especially in marketing. If you're in construction you might struggle.

People: Generally solid. It took about 17 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: improving. Tons of options if you like Mediterranean.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are surprisingly good, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value nightlife, you'll love it. The food scene is genuinely tough and I've found I'm still on the fence after all this time. My neighborhood (Old Town) is manageable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from New York, be prepared for the culture shock. pet-friendliness is completely different here. And Not a lot of cultural diversity.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want public transit, then yeah this place is great. But if community vibe matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

I'm a marketing manager and I've found the quality of life is solid. The community is solid and there's always something going on.

Moved here from Minneapolis about 15 years ago. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Still getting used to cultural scene but No regrets on my end..
