What Dearborn Heights does better than anywhere else
Random thought, We have two kids and The median home value here is around $174,900, which is actually reasonable. With a population of 62,099, Dearborn Heights is a smaller city. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Would love some local perspective. The city has invested a lot in new development. The suburbs are where most families end up.

I've lived in Meadowbrook for about 5 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I love the pace of life here. When I first moved here from Austin, I was surprised by job market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Good internet infrastructure
- The pet-friendliness scene is solid
The downsides:
- Road conditions need improvement
- Homeless population growing downtown
Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for remote workers. No regrets on my end..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a contractor who relocated here from Baltimore about 6 years ago. The main reasons were weather and retirement.
Pros I've experienced:
- Active local events and festivals
- Four distinct seasons
- Lots of family-friendly activities
Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Not very walkable outside downtown
Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are established, gas is improving.
Socially, it was the best decision I ever made. Good luck with whatever you decide..
