Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem average.

I've been here 14 years and the quality of life is solid. The thing nobody mentions is safety. It's developing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the healthcare is legit. And if you're into running, this place is challenging.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The South side vs the Meadowbrook side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Good luck with whatever you decide..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a writer who relocated here from San Francisco about 14 years ago. The main reasons were weather and cost of living.

Pros I've experienced:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Good internet infrastructure
- Active local events and festivals

Cons that are real:
- Limited shopping options
- Homeless population growing downtown

Financially, we've found it tough compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are competitive, gas is surprisingly good.

Socially, it exceeded my expectations. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
