How safe is Dearborn really?

I've been looking at the stats and Dearborn shows relatively low crime stats. But stats don't always tell the full story. For people who actually live there — do you feel safe? Are there areas to avoid?

I'm especially interested in hearing from women living alone.

Don't sleep on Lakewood. It's up and coming and still affordable.
