Hey folks, I'm retired and It's a a mid-size city city with about 108K people. The city has invested a lot in new development.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem challenging.
I've been here 10 years and I love the pace of life here. The thing nobody mentions is job market. It's established and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the job market is legit. And if you're into rock climbing, this place is solid.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Pine Hills side vs the Midtown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
It's not for everyone but it works for us..

it's improved dramatically in recent years. When I first moved here from San Francisco, I was surprised by outdoor recreation. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

- Strong job market in several industries
- The walkability scene is surprisingly good
The downsides:
- Dating scene is rough
- Bugs and humidity in summer

**Housing:**
The market right now is excellent. We bought in 2019 at k and it's now worth up significantly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 2-bed in a safe area. Older homes are where the value is.
**Employment:**
retail is strong here. real estate is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are manageable for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
the quality of life is solid. The outdoor scene is hit or miss - we have beaches within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Westside schools are pretty good. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Limited shopping options. Dating scene is rough. And housing market can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**

- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Nice parks and green spaces

Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Dating scene is rough
Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are affordable, gas is tough.
Socially, it's improved dramatically in recent years. It's not for everyone but it works for us..
