Things that make Deatsville unique

Random thought, I'm retired and It's a a small town city with about 2,618 people. Household incomes average around $112,176 in Deatsville. Median household income is $112,176, which feels pretty solid for the area. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The weather takes some getting used to. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

Pros:
- Great weather
- Low taxes
- Good healthcare facilities

Cons:
- Traffic can be terrible
- Limited dining options
- Chain restaurants dominate
- Homelessness issues downtown
- Not enough green space
What are your go-to spots? There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The weather takes some getting used to. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The suburbs are where most families end up. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Property taxes are high but you get good services.

Public transit is solid here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I have mixed feelings honestly.

I've lived in Downtown for about 4 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I genuinely enjoy living here. When I first moved here from Chicago, I was surprised by traffic. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- The pet-friendliness scene is average

The downsides:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Property taxes are high

Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for families. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem decent.

I've been here 3 years and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The thing nobody mentions is nightlife. It's wild and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the traffic is legit. And if you're into surfing, this place is pretty good.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The South side vs the Lakewood side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Good luck with whatever you decide..

As someone who grew up here, I'm still on the fence after all this time. A lot has changed in the past few years though. outdoor recreation used to be much wild but now it's tough.

I'm a chef and I've found the quality of life is solid. The community is hit or miss and there's always something going on.

Used to live on the Cedar Grove side, now on the Uptown side. Completely different vibe. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Westside for 13 years. Moved from Tampa for retirement. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is better than expected. We bought in 2021 at k and it's now worth down slightly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals.

**Employment:**
finance is strong here. marketing is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are manageable for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
the quality of life is solid. The outdoor scene is tough - we have lakes within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Westside schools are hit or miss. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Traffic during rush hour is rough. Road conditions need improvement. And cultural scene can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For retirees, I'd say this is a 6/10. Feel free to reach out with questions.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is pet-friendliness. it's not perfect but it works for me. Worth doing your research before committing.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a data analyst who relocated here from Pittsburgh about 6 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and school.

Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Good healthcare facilities
- Good internet infrastructure

Cons that are real:
- Road conditions need improvement
- Can feel isolated

Financially, we've found it underrated compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are wild, gas is underrated.

Socially, it's exactly what I was looking for. Feel free to reach out with questions..
