Moving to Decatur for work -advice?

OK so I'm a 27-year-old electrician and Average temperature is around 61--F, so the weather is moderate. Crime rate is something to consider -Decatur sits at 200.6 per 100K. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Does this match your experience? Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. I've lived in Downtown for about 12 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it was the best decision I ever made. When I first moved here from Miami, I was surprised by job market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:

- Lots of new development happening

- Diverse dining options

- The job market scene is hit or miss

The downsides:

- Can feel isolated

- Bugs and humidity in summer

Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for families. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
