Is Decatur good for remote workers?

So, I'm a teacher here and It's a a smaller city city with about 70,368 people. Homes are going for about $97,300 on average. The suburbs are where most families end up. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Am I wrong here? Appreciate any input. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 14 years ago from Boston and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Riverside. It's challenging for what you get.

Jobs: The market is stable right now, especially in healthcare. If you're in healthcare you might struggle.

People: Generally average. It took about 8 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: average. Tons of options if you like Mexican.

Definitely worth checking out..
