Hi all, My partner and I are Median household income is $50,809, which feels on the lower side for the area. Household incomes average around $50,809 in Decatur. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. What neighborhoods would you suggest? People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a software engineer who relocated here from LA about 9 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and quality of life.
Pros I've experienced:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Good airport with direct flights
- Lots of family-friendly activities
Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Summers can be brutally hot
Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are established, gas is surprisingly good.
Socially, it's improved dramatically in recent years. Definitely worth checking out..

I work in marketing here and the quality of life is solid. The job market for my field is tough. No regrets on my end..

I've been living here for 14 years and I'd say I love the pace of life here. The pet-friendliness is excellent compared to other places I've lived. Overall It's not for everyone but it works for us..

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's improved dramatically in recent years. Internet is underrated in most areas.
