What Decatur does better than anywhere else

Not sure if this has been asked before, but Rent is about $796/month for a decent place. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Am I overthinking this? Thanks!

Public transit is tough here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's been a really good experience overall.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem average.

I've been here 4 years and it's improved dramatically in recent years. The thing nobody mentions is nightlife. It's manageable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the traffic is legit. And if you're into hiking, this place is challenging.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Meadowbrook side vs the Lakewood side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..
