Crime rate is something to consider -Decatur sits at 462.2 per 100K. What neighborhoods would you suggest?

I've lived in South for about 3 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. When I first moved here from Seattle, I was surprised by dating scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Strong job market in several industries
- The housing market scene is better than expected
The downsides:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Limited high-paying job options
Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for retirees. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem underrated.
I've been here 15 years and I'm still on the fence after all this time. The thing nobody mentions is traffic. It's wild and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the food scene is legit. And if you're into hiking, this place is decent.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Cedar Grove side vs the South side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I have mixed feelings honestly. Internet is average in most areas.

Bought a house here in 2020 and it's not perfect but it works for me. Property values have gone up significantly since then.

I've been living here for 6 years and I'd say it's not perfect but it works for me. The safety is decent compared to other places I've lived. Overall Definitely worth checking out..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want nightlife, then yeah this place is great. But if healthcare matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.
