Rent in Decatur getting crazy

First post here. I'm a 35-year-old marketing manager and The unemployment rate is 2.8%, which is pretty low. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The weather takes some getting used to. Has anyone dealt with this?

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a project manager, 57, moved here 7 years ago from Miami. I've lived in Uptown and Cedar Grove, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Good schools in most areas
2. Four distinct seasons
3. Close to major attractions
4. The people are generally better than expected - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Chain restaurants dominate
2. Far from beaches/mountains
3. The job market situation is growing and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Uptown: Great for couples. surprisingly good vibes, walkable.
- Cedar Grove: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Miami, everything felt average. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are reasonable. Gas is pricey. You can live comfortably on $70K-$150K here.

**Final verdict:**
Good luck with whatever you decide.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

I'm a nurse and I've found I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The community is challenging and there's always something going on.
