Decorah is underrated, change my mind

I'm a teacher here and Median household income is $62,177, which feels about average for the area. Household incomes average around $62,177 in Decorah. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Is this normal for Decorah?

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a contractor who relocated here from Charlotte about 10 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and school.

Pros I've experienced:
- Strong job market in several industries
- Lots of new development happening
- Good airport with direct flights

Cons that are real:
- Nightlife is limited
- Not a lot of cultural diversity

Financially, we've found it underrated compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are manageable, gas is hit or miss.

Socially, it was the best decision I ever made. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

The food scene here is pretty good. Tons of great farm-to-table places. I'm still on the fence after all this time.
