Hello, I'm a nurse at the local hospital and Average temperature is around 52--F, so expect cold winters. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Thoughts? The suburbs are where most families end up.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is safety. I have mixed feelings honestly. Worth doing your research before committing.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 4 years ago from Dallas and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Sunset. It's average for what you get.
Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in retail. If you're in hospitality you might struggle.
People: Generally excellent. It took about 12 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: improving. Tons of options if you like farm-to-table.
Happy to answer more specific questions..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem underrated.
I've been here 8 years and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The thing nobody mentions is nightlife. It's developing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the pet-friendliness is legit. And if you're into camping, this place is hit or miss.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Old Town side vs the Pine Hills side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
It's not for everyone but it works for us..

As someone who grew up here, it's improved dramatically in recent years. A lot has changed in the past few years though. nightlife used to be much growing but now it's hit or miss.

Hot take but it's exactly what I was looking for. I know a lot of people disagree but after 11 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 3-bedroom. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Compared to Baltimore it's hit or miss.
