Anyone else feel this way? Born and raised here. The unemployment rate is 3.2%, which is pretty low. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. What neighborhoods would you suggest? Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 1-bedroom. it's improved dramatically in recent years. Compared to LA it's improving.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a nurse, 37, moved here 3 years ago from Nashville. I've lived in West and Greenfield, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Great outdoor activities nearby
2. Active local events and festivals
3. Diverse dining options
4. The people are generally excellent - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Rising rent and home prices
2. Property taxes are high
3. The healthcare situation is affordable and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- West: Great for remote workers. pretty good vibes, walkable.
- Greenfield: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Nashville, everything felt decent. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are pricey. Gas is reasonable. You can live comfortably on $50K-$100K here.
**Final verdict:**
Give it a chance - it might surprise you.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Came here for school and stayed because it's not perfect but it works for me. The housing market is honestly pretty good and I don't see that changing anytime soon.
