Anyone else feel this way? Rent is about $1,670/month for a decent place. Median household income is $56,976, which feels about average for the area. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Anyone in a similar situation? Looking forward to hearing from you all. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The weather takes some getting used to. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The food scene here is surprisingly good. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 4-bedroom. it's improved dramatically in recent years. Compared to New York it's decent.

My experience has been mostly positive. it was the best decision I ever made. The only thing I'd watch out for is public transit. Other than that, It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value walkability, you'll love it. The walkability is genuinely improving and I've found it's been a really good experience overall. My neighborhood (Pine Hills) is growing and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Salt Lake City, be prepared for the culture shock. cost of living is completely different here. And Rising rent and home prices.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Used to live on the Sunset side, now on the Pine Hills side. Completely different vibe. the quality of life is solid.
