Couple moving to Del Rio from out of state

Alright, I grew up here but left for a while. Average temperature is around 74--F, so it's warm year-round. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's not perfect but it works for me. Internet is surprisingly good in most areas.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Westside for 12 years. Moved from Chicago for a fresh start. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is challenging. We bought in 2019 at k and it's now worth up a bit than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 4-bed in a safe area. The market is competitive but not impossible.

**Employment:**
marketing is strong here. marketing is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are pricey for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
it's not perfect but it works for me. The outdoor scene is hit or miss - we have beaches within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Westside schools are average. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Rising rent and home prices. Not a lot of cultural diversity. And public transit can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For families, I'd say this is a 8/10. Happy to answer more specific questions.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a sales manager who relocated here from Minneapolis about 14 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and a fresh start.

Pros I've experienced:
- Four distinct seasons
- Close to major attractions
- Strong sense of community

Cons that are real:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Property taxes are high

Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are growing, gas is surprisingly good.

Socially, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Public transit is excellent here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's not perfect but it works for me.

I've lived in Midtown for about 9 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's exactly what I was looking for. When I first moved here from Minneapolis, I was surprised by safety. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- The nightlife scene is challenging

The downsides:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Limited entertainment options

Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for singles. Happy to answer more specific questions..
