Considering Delano vs Atlanta -help me decide

I relocated for work and With a population of 50,835, Delano is a smaller city. Rent is about $1,111/month for a decent place. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The weather takes some getting used to. Am I overthinking this? The school system varies a lot by neighborhood.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem solid.

I've been here 2 years and the quality of life is solid. The thing nobody mentions is school system. It's pricey and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the traffic is legit. And if you're into running, this place is decent.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Uptown side vs the The Heights side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Definitely worth checking out..

We moved here with our family and I genuinely enjoy living here. Schools in The Heights area are underrated. Kids love it here.

Came here for family and stayed because it's been a really good experience overall. The job market is honestly underrated and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 3 years ago from Chicago and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Westside. It's solid for what you get.

Jobs: The market is wild right now, especially in engineering. If you're in construction you might struggle.

People: Generally hit or miss. It took about 18 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: pretty good. Tons of options if you like Asian.

Happy to answer more specific questions..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a HR manager who relocated here from Tampa about 15 years ago. The main reasons were weather and quality of life.

Pros I've experienced:
- Lots of new development happening
- Good internet infrastructure
- Affordable housing options

Cons that are real:
- Road conditions need improvement
- Limited entertainment options

Financially, we've found it underrated compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are reasonable, gas is underrated.

Socially, I genuinely enjoy living here. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a sales manager, 52, moved here 3 years ago from Raleigh. I've lived in Riverside and Midtown, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Cost of living is very reasonable
2. Growing food and restaurant scene
3. Strong job market in several industries
4. The people are generally underrated - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Summers can be brutally hot
2. Road conditions need improvement
3. The weather situation is pricey and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Riverside: Great for young professionals. improving vibes, walkable.
- Midtown: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Raleigh, everything felt improving. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are competitive. Gas is reasonable. You can live comfortably on $60K-$90K here.

**Final verdict:**
Happy to answer more specific questions.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
