Is Deltona getting better or worse?

Hey everyone, Just moved here 17 months ago and Poverty rate is 9.1%, which is pretty low. The unemployment rate is 2.1%, which is pretty low. The median home value here is around $254,100, which seems about average. You can expect to pay around $1,547 for rent here. The suburbs are where most families end up. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years.

Pros:
- Affordable cost of living
- Good job market
- Nice parks and trails
- Growing food scene
- Diverse community

Cons:
- Hot summers
- High property taxes
- Lack of diversity
- Mosquitoes and humidity
- Far from major airports
Thanks! There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The city has invested a lot in new development. The food scene here is surprisingly good. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 5 years ago from Phoenix and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Springfield. It's improving for what you get.

Jobs: The market is growing right now, especially in marketing. If you're in engineering you might struggle.

People: Generally decent. It took about 5 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: pretty good. Tons of options if you like Vietnamese.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem surprisingly good.

I've been here 5 years and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The thing nobody mentions is public transit. It's affordable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the healthcare is legit. And if you're into fishing, this place is improving.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Highland side vs the North side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Hot take but I have mixed feelings honestly. I know a lot of people disagree but after 3 years here, that's my honest assessment.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is housing market. it's not perfect but it works for me. Worth doing your research before committing.

The food scene here is excellent. Tons of great Mediterranean places. I'm still on the fence after all this time.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want walkability, then yeah this place is great. But if job market matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.
