First time home buyer in Denham Springs

Curious what people think. I've been here for 18 years and Crime rate is something to consider -Denham Springs sits at 809.4 per 100K. The unemployment rate is 3.3%, which is pretty low. Poverty rate is 5.6%, which is pretty low. The city has invested a lot in new development. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Am I wrong here? Property taxes are high but you get good services. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The suburbs are where most families end up.

Came here for quality of life and stayed because it's not perfect but it works for me. The cost of living is honestly hit or miss and I don't see that changing anytime soon.
