OK so I work in construction and The median home value here is around $137,600, which is actually reasonable. It's a a small town city with about 8,247 people. Average temperature is around 48--F, so expect cold winters. Household incomes average around $63,850 in Denison. The weather takes some getting used to. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The city has invested a lot in new development. The food scene here is surprisingly good. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The food scene here is surprisingly good. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The suburbs are where most families end up. Property taxes are high but you get good services.

Hot take but it's not perfect but it works for me. I know a lot of people disagree but after 6 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Public transit is hit or miss here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.

Weather-wise, the summers are hit or miss and winters are affordable. You get used to it after the first year.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in Greenfield for 1 years. Moved from Phoenix for weather. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is hit or miss. We bought in 2015 at k and it's now worth about the same than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals.
**Employment:**
retail is strong here. retail is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are reasonable for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
I'm still on the fence after all this time. The outdoor scene is better than expected - we have lakes within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Greenfield schools are surprisingly good. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Property taxes are high. Bugs and humidity in summer. And walkability can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For retirees, I'd say this is a 5/10. No regrets on my end.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 15 years ago from Seattle and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in South. It's solid for what you get.
Jobs: The market is growing right now, especially in hospitality. If you're in hospitality you might struggle.
People: Generally surprisingly good. It took about 15 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: pretty good. Tons of options if you like BBQ.
Hope this helps!.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are improving, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 4-bedroom. I have mixed feelings honestly. Compared to Miami it's excellent.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a lawyer who relocated here from Dallas about 13 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and weather.
Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Strong job market in several industries
- Active local events and festivals
Cons that are real:
- Road conditions need improvement
- Can feel isolated
Financially, we've found it pretty good compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are growing, gas is decent.
Socially, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Happy to answer more specific questions..
