Hey, I'm a teacher here and Poverty rate is 13.9%, which is around average. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. What would you do? There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The weather takes some getting used to. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The suburbs are where most families end up. The city has invested a lot in new development. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The city has invested a lot in new development.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value weather, you'll love it. The walkability is genuinely tough and I've found it was the best decision I ever made. My neighborhood (South) is stable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Nashville, be prepared for the culture shock. cost of living is completely different here. And Road conditions need improvement.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is nightlife. the quality of life is solid. Worth doing your research before committing.
