Hey folks, There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Should I be concerned?

I'm a HR manager and I've found I love the pace of life here. The community is solid and there's always something going on.

We moved here with our family and it's been a really good experience overall. Schools in South area are surprisingly good. Kids love it here.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 1 years ago from San Diego and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Westside. It's hit or miss for what you get.

Jobs: The market is wild right now, especially in manufacturing. If you're in hospitality you might struggle.

People: Generally improving. It took about 18 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: underrated. Tons of options if you like Southern.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 7 years ago from Denver and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Uptown. It's challenging for what you get.

Jobs: The market is established right now, especially in tech. If you're in manufacturing you might struggle.

People: Generally average. It took about 10 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: excellent. Tons of options if you like Vietnamese.

Good luck with whatever you decide..

Used to live on the Sunset side, now on the Westside side. Completely different vibe. I have mixed feelings honestly.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Downtown for 9 years. Moved from Salt Lake City for cost of living. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is surprisingly good. We bought in 2020 at k and it's now worth down slightly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 2-bed in a safe area. The market is competitive but not impossible.

**Employment:**
legal is strong here. retail is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are reasonable for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The outdoor scene is better than expected - we have rivers within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Downtown schools are tough. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Can feel isolated. Bugs and humidity in summer. And traffic can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For retirees, I'd say this is a 6/10. Hope this helps!. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want cultural scene, then yeah this place is great. But if traffic matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.
