Long time reader, first time posting. Parent of two, been here since 2021. A friend just bought in Sloan's Lake for K and I'm not sure if that was smart. People here are friendlier than I expected coming from Nashville.

OK since this keeps coming up, here's my definitive Denver guide from someone who's been here way too long.
**Neighborhoods ranked (my opinion):**
Tier 1 (if you can afford it):
- Cherry Creek: trendy, pricey, but worth it
- Platt Park: family-friendly with good parks
Tier 2 (best value):
- Park Hill: great community feel
- Sunnyside: quiet but close to everything
Avoid (unless you know what you're doing):
- I won't name names but do your research on anything significantly below market rate
**Cost Reality Check:**
- 1-bed decent area: /mo
- 2-bed decent area: /mo
- Groceries for 2: /mo
- Car insurance: improving compared to national avg
- Utilities: /mo average
**The Honest Truth:**
I keep discovering new spots even after {yr} years.. Denver is established but it's not for everyone. If you value space over walkability, you'll love it. If it's the other way around, maybe consider Nashville.

OK let me break this down from someone who's been here a while.
Sloan's Lake vs Capitol Hill: completely different vibes. Sloan's Lake is more hit or miss with families and quiet streets. Capitol Hill is growing and better for students.
Cost-wise, expect /mo minimum for anything decent in Sloan's Lake. In Capitol Hill you can find stuff for /mo.
Traffic has gotten noticeably worse in the past year.. Grocery prices are creeping up but still manageable.

Let me give you the perspective nobody asked for but everyone needs.
I've lived in LoHi, Highlands, and currently in City Park. Each one feels like a different city honestly.
Rent comparison:
- LoHi: /mo for a 2-bed
- Highlands: about /mo
- City Park: /mo but decent
The parks system here is underrated.. The key is finding your neighborhood. Once you do, Denver really clicks. Hope that helps!

I'm a young professional in Baker. Been here since 2018. People here are friendlier than I expected coming from {other}..
Neighborhood-wise, Baker has really changed in the past few years. Cherry Creek is the up-and-coming spot right now. Congress Park is where I'd look if budget is a concern.
Job market for government: great. For healthcare: affordable.
Traffic has gotten noticeably worse in the past year.

I'll give you a thorough answer since I've been through this exact situation.
I moved to Capitol Hill from Omaha about 10 years ago. Initially I was excited but nervous. But after settling in, Downtown has improved dramatically since I first moved here..
A few things I'd recommend:
- Check out Capitol Hill and LoHi for housing
- Join local Facebook/Reddit groups for your neighborhood
- Visit during different seasons if you can
The biggest adjustment was housing. The {industry} scene here is really picking up.. Overall I'd give Denver a 7/10 for students.

Neighborhood-wise, Congress Park has really shifted in the past few years. Baker is the up-and-coming spot right now. RiNo is where I'd look if budget is a concern.

My experience has been different actually. I found that The airport connections are {adj} which matters if you travel.. Maybe it depends on which part of Denver you're in.
