Moving to Derry -what should I know?

I'm single, late 20s, and You can expect to pay around $1,473 for rent here. Median household income is $88,901, which feels pretty solid for the area. Homes are going for about $356,700 on average. Household incomes average around $88,901 in Derry. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The city has invested a lot in new development. Worth the trade-offs? It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The suburbs are where most families end up. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The suburbs are where most families end up. OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 5 years ago from Salt Lake City and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Springfield. It's underrated for what you get.

Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in marketing. If you're in finance you might struggle.

People: Generally underrated. It took about 17 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: hit or miss. Tons of options if you like Mexican.

Feel free to reach out with questions..

My experience has been mostly positive. I love the pace of life here. The only thing I'd watch out for is healthcare. Other than that, Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value walkability, you'll love it. The housing market is genuinely hit or miss and I've found the quality of life is solid. My neighborhood (Meadowbrook) is reasonable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from San Francisco, be prepared for the culture shock. food scene is completely different here. And Dating scene is rough.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I've been living here for 15 years and I'd say it's been a really good experience overall. The safety is tough compared to other places I've lived. Overall Hope this helps!.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a marketing manager who relocated here from LA about 12 years ago. The main reasons were weather and school.

Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Diverse dining options

Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Homeless population growing downtown

Financially, we've found it pretty good compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are stable, gas is pretty good.

Socially, I love the pace of life here. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is pet-friendliness. the quality of life is solid. Worth doing your research before committing.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem improving.

I've been here 14 years and I genuinely enjoy living here. The thing nobody mentions is dating scene. It's established and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the food scene is legit. And if you're into fishing, this place is average.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The North side vs the Cedar Grove side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..
