Anyone else feel this way? I'm retired and Poverty rate is 1.7%, which is pretty low. Average temperature is around 48--F, so expect cold winters. The suburbs are where most families end up. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Does this match your experience? Thanks! Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem solid.
I've been here 4 years and it's exactly what I was looking for. The thing nobody mentions is school system. It's affordable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the school system is legit. And if you're into rock climbing, this place is pretty good.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Oak Park side vs the Greenfield side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
