Just moved here 1 months ago and The unemployment rate is 4.7%, which is about average. Average temperature is around 54--F, so expect cold winters. Median household income is $89,787, which feels pretty solid for the area. The suburbs are where most families end up. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Any help is appreciated. The weather takes some getting used to. The weather takes some getting used to. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

I've lived in The Heights for about 2 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I love the pace of life here. When I first moved here from Austin, I was surprised by outdoor recreation. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Active local events and festivals
- The walkability scene is average
The downsides:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Far from beaches/mountains
Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for couples. No regrets on my end..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value food scene, you'll love it. The school system is genuinely hit or miss and I've found I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. My neighborhood (Old Town) is developing and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Salt Lake City, be prepared for the culture shock. traffic is completely different here. And Not a lot of cultural diversity.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Used to live on the Downtown side, now on the Riverside side. Completely different vibe. I genuinely enjoy living here.

Came here for work and stayed because it was the best decision I ever made. The pet-friendliness is honestly average and I don't see that changing anytime soon.
