Is Deschutes River Woods worth moving to in 2026?

Not sure if this has been asked before, but Been living here since 2021. It's a a small town city with about 5,755 people. Crime rate is something to consider -Deschutes River Woods sits at 138.3 per 100K. Rent is about $1,645/month for a decent place. Median household income is $82,371, which feels pretty solid for the area. With a population of 5,755, Deschutes River Woods is a small town. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The suburbs are where most families end up. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Has anyone dealt with this? Thanks! The weather takes some getting used to. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The city has invested a lot in new development. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a physical therapist, 51, moved here 13 years ago from Miami. I've lived in Cedar Grove and Greenfield, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Friendly community, easy to meet people
2. Good schools in most areas
3. Decent public transit for the size
4. The people are generally hit or miss - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Not very walkable outside downtown
2. Bugs and humidity in summer
3. The nightlife situation is wild and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Cedar Grove: Great for couples. challenging vibes, walkable.
- Greenfield: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Miami, everything felt improving. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are stable. Gas is pricey. You can live comfortably on $50K-$130K here.
