Desert Hot Springs quality of life -am I missing something?

Longtime lurker here, Military spouse here. Average temperature is around 75--F, so it's warm year-round. With a population of 32,786, Desert Hot Springs is a smaller city. Homes are going for about $309,300 on average. The unemployment rate is 4.3%, which is about average. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Any advice would be great. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's not perfect but it works for me. Internet is excellent in most areas.

I've lived in Meadowbrook for about 12 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I love the pace of life here. When I first moved here from Austin, I was surprised by housing market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Good healthcare facilities
- The pet-friendliness scene is better than expected

The downsides:
- Winters are long and cold
- Homeless population growing downtown

Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for families. No regrets on my end..

I've been living here for 10 years and I'd say it's improved dramatically in recent years. The weather is excellent compared to other places I've lived. Overall Definitely worth checking out..
