Rent vs buy in Destin -what makes sense?
Not sure if this has been asked before, but I'm a nurse at the local hospital and Average temperature is around 70--F, so the weather is moderate. Median household income is $89,141, which feels pretty solid for the area. The median home value here is around $455,100, which is pretty steep. The unemployment rate is 1.0%, which is pretty low. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much.
Pros:

- Low taxes
- Good healthcare facilities
- Walkable downtown
Cons:
- Hot summers
- Mosquitoes and humidity
- Not enough green space
Thoughts? TIA! The city has invested a lot in new development. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.
