Cost of living reality check — Detroit

OK so I'm retired and Median household income is $39,575, which feels on the lower side for the area. You can expect to pay around $1,034 for rent here. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. It's changing fast — some good, some not so much. Thanks in advance! There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The suburbs are where most families end up. The food scene here is surprisingly good. It's changing fast — some good, some not so much. My experience has been mostly positive. it's not perfect but it works for me. The only thing I'd watch out for is job market. Other than that, Feel free to reach out with questions..
