I'm single, late 20s, and Homes are going for about $199,000 on average. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Is this normal for D'Iberville? Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The city has invested a lot in new development. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much.

We moved here with our family and I love the pace of life here. Schools in Downtown area are average. Kids love it here.

Came here for cost of living and stayed because it's exactly what I was looking for. The safety is honestly tough and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a data analyst who relocated here from Austin about 3 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and a fresh start.
Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Good healthcare facilities
- Affordable housing options
Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Urban sprawl is real
Financially, we've found it average compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are manageable, gas is underrated.
Socially, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Hope this helps!.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are better than expected, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.
