How is Dickinson for outdoor activities?

OK so Born and raised here. Crime rate is something to consider -Dickinson sits at 222.0 per 100K. Rent is about $963/month for a decent place. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Am I overthinking this? The suburbs are where most families end up.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a pharmacist, 36, moved here 14 years ago from Miami. I've lived in Midtown and Uptown, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Friendly community, easy to meet people
2. Active local events and festivals
3. Strong sense of community
4. The people are generally underrated - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Limited high-paying job options
2. Dating scene is rough
3. The housing market situation is growing and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Midtown: Great for remote workers. excellent vibes, walkable.
- Uptown: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Miami, everything felt underrated. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are stable. Gas is developing. You can live comfortably on $60K-$120K here.

**Final verdict:**
Feel free to reach out with questions.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a sales manager who relocated here from Boston about 2 years ago. The main reasons were weather and quality of life.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Good healthcare facilities
- Close to major attractions

Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Limited high-paying job options

Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are wild, gas is surprisingly good.

Socially, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Feel free to reach out with questions..
