Not sure if this has been asked before, but We're a young couple and It's a a small town city with about 16,246 people. The unemployment rate is 3.6%, which is pretty low. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Does this match your experience? Any help is appreciated. The suburbs are where most families end up. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The city has invested a lot in new development. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Property taxes are high but you get good services.

We moved here with our family and it's improved dramatically in recent years. Schools in Midtown area are decent. Kids love it here.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 4-bedroom. it's been a really good experience overall. Compared to Denver it's better than expected.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 8 years ago from Nashville and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Old Town. It's solid for what you get.
Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in construction. If you're in tech you might struggle.
People: Generally underrated. It took about 11 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: pretty good. Tons of options if you like seafood.
Good luck with whatever you decide..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value cost of living, you'll love it. The job market is genuinely excellent and I've found I have mixed feelings honestly. My neighborhood (Pine Hills) is competitive and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Austin, be prepared for the culture shock. job market is completely different here. And Summers can be brutally hot.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want outdoor recreation, then yeah this place is great. But if traffic matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.
