Anyone else love living in Dieterich?

So, Median household income is $73,750, which feels about average for the area. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it was the best decision I ever made. Internet is improving in most areas.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 2 years ago from Atlanta and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Oak Park. It's average for what you get.

Jobs: The market is stable right now, especially in hospitality. If you're in government you might struggle.

People: Generally tough. It took about 6 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: better than expected. Tons of options if you like Thai.

Good luck with whatever you decide..

I've lived in Eastside for about 5 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's exactly what I was looking for. When I first moved here from Phoenix, I was surprised by school system. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Four distinct seasons
- The healthcare scene is pretty good

The downsides:
- Chain restaurants dominate
- Bugs and humidity in summer

Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for singles. Would recommend to anyone considering it..
