Just moved to Dixon, any tips?

Been meaning to ask this. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Should I be concerned? Cheers.

I've lived in Fairview for about 10 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I love the pace of life here. When I first moved here from LA, I was surprised by job market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Four distinct seasons
- The school system scene is average

The downsides:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Homeless population growing downtown

Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for couples. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a HR manager who relocated here from Boston about 7 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and cost of living.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Four distinct seasons
- Good airport with direct flights

Cons that are real:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Chain restaurants dominate

Financially, we've found it average compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are competitive, gas is decent.

Socially, it's not perfect but it works for me. Happy to answer more specific questions..
