Moving from Phoenix to Dobbs Ferry next month

Average temperature is around 53--F, so expect cold winters. With a population of 11,397, Dobbs Ferry is a small town. Household incomes average around $167,927 in Dobbs Ferry. Homes are going for about $719,300 on average. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Am I overthinking this? The food scene here is surprisingly good. The weather takes some getting used to. The weather takes some getting used to. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a accountant who relocated here from Dallas about 4 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and school.

Pros I've experienced:
- Active local events and festivals
- Four distinct seasons
- Affordable housing options

Cons that are real:
- Limited shopping options
- Bugs and humidity in summer

Financially, we've found it surprisingly good compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are stable, gas is better than expected.

Socially, it's improved dramatically in recent years. Hope this helps!.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is public transit. it's exactly what I was looking for. Worth doing your research before committing.

Weather-wise, the summers are surprisingly good and winters are competitive. You get used to it after the first year.
