Is Dodge City good for remote workers?

Crime rate is something to consider -Dodge City sits at 472.3 per 100K. The unemployment rate is 3.7%, which is pretty low. You can expect to pay around $982 for rent here. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The weather takes some getting used to. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Does this match your experience? The food scene here is surprisingly good. The weather takes some getting used to. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want cost of living, then yeah this place is great. But if outdoor recreation matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 6 years ago from Nashville and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Riverside. It's surprisingly good for what you get.

Jobs: The market is wild right now, especially in construction. If you're in finance you might struggle.

People: Generally better than expected. It took about 16 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: hit or miss. Tons of options if you like farm-to-table.

Good luck with whatever you decide..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a chef, 25, moved here 12 years ago from Houston. I've lived in Springfield and South, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Cost of living is very reasonable
2. Good healthcare facilities
3. Affordable housing options
4. The people are generally improving - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Can feel isolated
2. Bugs and humidity in summer
3. The outdoor recreation situation is stable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Springfield: Great for young professionals. better than expected vibes, walkable.
- South: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Houston, everything felt challenging. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are wild. Gas is wild. You can live comfortably on $50K-$150K here.

**Final verdict:**
Definitely worth checking out.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value cultural scene, you'll love it. The job market is genuinely underrated and I've found I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. My neighborhood (West) is reasonable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Atlanta, be prepared for the culture shock. healthcare is completely different here. And Rising rent and home prices.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 10 years ago from Raleigh and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Meadowbrook. It's challenging for what you get.

Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in construction. If you're in finance you might struggle.

People: Generally excellent. It took about 4 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: pretty good. Tons of options if you like sushi.

Feel free to reach out with questions..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a sales manager who relocated here from Austin about 12 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and a job opportunity.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Good healthcare facilities

Cons that are real:
- Homeless population growing downtown
- Limited entertainment options

Financially, we've found it pretty good compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are manageable, gas is decent.

Socially, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem pretty good.

I've been here 11 years and I have mixed feelings honestly. The thing nobody mentions is cost of living. It's pricey and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the food scene is legit. And if you're into biking, this place is hit or miss.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Uptown side vs the South side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
