Is Dodge City walkable?

Alright, I'm a teacher here and With a population of 27,652, Dodge City is a smaller city. Rent is about $982/month for a decent place. The unemployment rate is 3.7%, which is pretty low. Average temperature is around 55--F, so the weather is moderate. It's a a smaller city city with about 27,652 people. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Thoughts? The weather takes some getting used to. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The suburbs are where most families end up. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The weather takes some getting used to. The suburbs are where most families end up. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem decent.

I've been here 5 years and it exceeded my expectations. The thing nobody mentions is healthcare. It's growing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the cost of living is legit. And if you're into kayaking, this place is surprisingly good.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The The Heights side vs the South side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..
