Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a project manager who relocated here from Raleigh about 1 years ago. The main reasons were family and a fresh start.
Pros I've experienced:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Good healthcare facilities
- Active local events and festivals
Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Dating scene is rough
Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are established, gas is pretty good.
Socially, I love the pace of life here. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Came here for work and stayed because it's not perfect but it works for me. The traffic is honestly surprisingly good and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

We moved here with our family and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Schools in Downtown area are hit or miss. Kids love it here.
