Dogtown is underrated, change my mind

First post here. I'm a 34-year-old physical therapist and The median home value here is around $696,700, which is pretty steep. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. What would you do? The weather takes some getting used to. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value healthcare, you'll love it. The public transit is genuinely average and I've found it's been a really good experience overall. My neighborhood (Highland) is developing and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Chicago, be prepared for the culture shock. healthcare is completely different here. And Can feel isolated.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Came here for a fresh start and stayed because it exceeded my expectations. The dating scene is honestly average and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Bought a house here in 2022 and it's improved dramatically in recent years. Property values have gone up significantly since then.
