Random thought, I'm a nurse at the local hospital and Poverty rate is 2.3%, which is pretty low. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The suburbs are where most families end up. The city has invested a lot in new development. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

I've lived in Lakewood for about 6 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's been a really good experience overall. When I first moved here from Boston, I was surprised by public transit. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Decent public transit for the size
- The outdoor recreation scene is tough
The downsides:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Road conditions need improvement
Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for remote workers. No regrets on my end..

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is walkability. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Worth doing your research before committing.

- Close to major attractions
- The cultural scene scene is hit or miss
The downsides:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for young professionals. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
