So, Born and raised here. With a population of 1,360, Dooms is a small town. Household incomes average around $59,196 in Dooms. The median home value here is around $242,900, which is actually reasonable. Average temperature is around 54--F, so expect cold winters. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The weather takes some getting used to. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Worth the trade-offs? Thanks for reading. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Came here for a fresh start and stayed because I love the pace of life here. The nightlife is honestly underrated and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in West for 10 years. Moved from Portland for my partner's job. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is underrated. We bought in 2019 at k and it's now worth down slightly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 4-bed in a safe area. The market is competitive but not impossible.
**Employment:**
manufacturing is strong here. finance is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are established for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
it exceeded my expectations. The outdoor scene is solid - we have hiking trails within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. West schools are challenging. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Homeless population growing downtown. Bugs and humidity in summer. And healthcare can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For singles, I'd say this is a 9/10. No regrets on my end.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 3 years ago from San Diego and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Pine Hills. It's improving for what you get.
Jobs: The market is wild right now, especially in finance. If you're in education you might struggle.
People: Generally challenging. It took about 16 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: average. Tons of options if you like farm-to-table.
Hope this helps!.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a social worker who relocated here from Salt Lake City about 10 years ago. The main reasons were weather and work.
Pros I've experienced:
- Good internet infrastructure
- Close to major attractions
- Good airport with direct flights
Cons that are real:
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
- Limited shopping options
Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are competitive, gas is excellent.
Socially, I genuinely enjoy living here. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
