Should I move to Douglas or stay in Memphis?

Been meaning to ask this. I'm single, late 50s, and Median household income is $39,350, which feels on the lower side for the area. Homes are going for about $138,200 on average. Poverty rate is 26.6%, which is higher than I expected. The median home value here is around $138,200, which is actually reasonable. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Thoughts? Appreciate any input. The weather takes some getting used to. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The suburbs are where most families end up. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The weather takes some getting used to. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The suburbs are where most families end up. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem hit or miss.

I've been here 3 years and it's not perfect but it works for me. The thing nobody mentions is walkability. It's manageable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the nightlife is legit. And if you're into kayaking, this place is average.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Westside side vs the Lakewood side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..
